I have a set of D60's, and would like to get rid of the rear drums and replace with rear disks.....whats the best/ cheapest way to do it. I have researced the "kits" around and they all seem to be @ $500 or more with the Ebrake calipers..any ideas or sugestions? Home built methods that WORK? Any help is appreciated!

if you use eldorado calipers you can have an e-brake.....

otherwise.... great lakes off road makes a bracket just like blue torch fabs but for much less money.

use 78 3/4 ton front chevy calipers, rotors, and pads

use 78 el camino brake lines

should cost you less than $200

Thanx, Erik!! Thats what i'll do. "gather up" an assortment of parts and make a kit waaaaay cheaper. Now that I know what years and aplications will work for me i can parts hunt! LOL. Thanx (again), bro!

Yes, $500, (or more) if you buy the kits with the E-brake callipers, and rubber lines. Both Blackhawk and TRM (?- I think thats their name) were priced the same for '79 Ford F-350 rear dana 60's kits. Don't know if kits for other brands would work ( IE: Chevy, Dodge, etc...). Blew me away!

only problem i see with the way i did it is no e-brake..... keep that in mind.... it doesn't bother me as i just leave the jeep in gear when parked but some may disagree. i'm not that familiar with the eldorado caliper install so if you wanted to go that route you'll need to do some searching.

good luck

I don't know about where your at, but over here in the mountains, they ALWAYS check to make sure the e-brake works at inspection time, so I'm sure I'll have to go with the Eldorado calipers, which will bump the total cost up, but still should be cheaper than those "kits".

i dont think i've ever even tried to pass an inspection without a buddy's assistance at the shop... lol.

yea if you need a functional parking brake then eldorado calipers are the way to go. searching pirate4x4 should get you a ton of info on the swap. that's where i stumbled into the information on it all.
