was wanting you guy to take a look and maybe see if im on the right track? its a 78 f150 frame with cage radius arms, and superlift coil springs. i have the castor set at 7 deg. on the flat spot of the c,this should be turned up right, guessin that would be pos.castor

why not put all these in the same topics you orginally started under the same name instead of creating new posts?

so i should turn the c down? does this sound crazy to anybody else?does anyone know what i can do about the coil spring bottom plate not being level?

??

"King pin axis" should be tipped back at the top shouldn't it? (Thas positive caster)

Yeah you're right. I just said the opposite of what he said...

Need to pull the pinion down some...so the top ball joint is behind the bottom one...about 5 degrees of so if not a little more...

Again, all this needs to be set at ride height...so figure that out first...and I bet your coil bucket problem will flatten out if you set it at ride height where they're designed to be flat...

thx for all the input, superlift has the 9 inch lift with 7 degree c bushing, so i figured being that i have the same coils minus the wedges cause it is a d60 with weldon brackets, that that would be what castor i neede to go with?I am thinking right? Also about the ride height, does that need to be with weight?Like the motor and etc.

THE EFFECTS OF CASTER

Caster is the angle to which the steering pivot axis is tilted forward or rearward from vertical, as viewed from the side. If the pivot axis is tilted backward (that is, the top pivot is positioned farther rearward than the bottom pivot), then the caster is positive; if it's tilted forward, then the caster is negative.

so by the pics i have neg. castor, right?

You don't have any wedges. Those C bushings are for stock radius arm axles that have wedges welded to them. Your axle started out life with leaf springs.

The caster shown in the photo at the top is backwards. You want 5-8* the opposite way.

Ride height would have to be fully loaded, yes. Motor, body, fuel, etc. You could try to estimate it, or just save the spring buckets for last. Take your best guess, mock it up, tweak it as necessary.

thx for the help guys, i got a guy in va pressin off my c's and rewelding for better angle on the driveshaft. Its good to know that theres help here when you need it!!:bounce2:

so i helped the guy in va turn my c's and noticed that stock the c's were 1.5 degrees from each other?? Is this norm? He is saying that we should keep it that way? would like some input if anyone has any?? thx
