the perch molded into my differential is wallowed out, so what can i do to fix that? can i weld it up and just drill it back out so the spring center pin will keep everything in place ?
I broke 4 c-pins. Drill them out to 1/2 - 9/16. Use a masonry bit. I think mikita's the one. At SLowes they are the blue, sharp ones. I know that sounds funny but some of the chrome ones are dull new. I drilled all 12 leaves with one bit... On a press and a little oil. Last. Get a grade 8 bolt and round the head a bit.
Yeah, would be a good time to upgrade the center pins. I've broken a couple also. Went to3/8" grade 8, probably should have gone to 7/16" but so far so good. 'Course I don't beat it like Stump either......come to think of it, nobody does
ok good info ill do all that and go up to 3/8 grade 8 bolts. i can get caterpillar bolts which are sopposed to be stronger because the threads are molded onto and not cut onto it which makes it stronger or so a cat mechanic told me
