So my dad has gotten the itch again, wanting to build a 55 Chevy 2 door post into a gasser. Well most rotted out shells needing extensive repair still go for a pretty penny, so be decided to take a different route. He found a sweet deal on a 4 door in Missouri, loaded up a trailer and went and got it. I’m not sure of all the plans but I do know this:

it’s got a 400 sbc in it gonna need a rebuild, he bought a ford 8.8 to throw in the rear, and a straight front axel out of a 50’s model truck. He’s gonna go with the M22 4 speed I believe. So far he’s gotten the driver side of the car all chopped up and grafted in the new “panel”

That's so cool even Mr. Bones is smiling!

Dad has been making a lot of progress on his 55, figured I’d share, maybe some here would find the work interesting at the very least.

he had the frame sent off and sandblasted, he’s installed a 4 link coil over in the rear, and has the front straight axle installed as well. He said all the chassis work was 10x worse than making a 4 door car into a 2 door.

Coming from building offroad vehicles, it has always shocked me at the 4 link setups companies sell for hotrods. And also the price they charge for alot of them. I also would gladly exchange time doing chassis work, if he could do the sheet metal work.

I think this is a one and done for him lol, he’s made the comment many times during this build that he’s getting too old for this, he also just got called back to work, so his 8-10 hour days of working on the car will now be reduced to Saturday and Sundays.

Just a little update of where this thing is today….it’s almost ready to roll. He’s got everything wired, painted, engine has fired up, just needs to put finishing touches on interior and finish exhaust
