DAMN People....

Those few that suck are all about themselves, and not the team. A REAL Team player might want to to play, but relize they suck so they will sit on the sidelines and subsitute, and in return should expect a little bit of play here and there.. A non Team player will say "I am part of the team, I have the right to play, put me in NOW

I totally don't mind those that suck at playing. But when you work hard for a season to watch it fall out of your hands(even if it is just for fun, you lost alot of time getting thus far), that will be hard. I quite playing competive sports (I.e. SET TEAMS) because I do not mind picking up the normal slack, but I do not want to do it for someone that just wants to glory without the pain

My daughters didn't play any sports in school but, they did cheerleading. Even in elementary school they had rules about showing up to practices and games. You put in the effort and you get to participate/play. If you don't then you don't get to participate/play. They had various activities outside of just practice and games.

For the last 10 years when I walked onto a softball field I've known I was a better than average player. The last couple of years I know I'm slipping from what I once was, it sux getting old. As long as my body will keep letting me play I'm out there reliving the glory days of baseball. I sponsor the team but refuse to have anything to do with managing it. We picked up a few new players this year after having a couple of years of attendance problems. We now have people riding the bench, at the beginning of the year we sort of told everyone playing, "hey you're going to have to sit some, I don't care how good you are." I'm not stupid, no one likes to sit, but it's the only fair thing to do. When it comes tourny time though I imagine the "A" squad is going to be on the feild until the game is under control. The problem is these generations that are growning up playing sports where everyone gets a trophey and no one "sucks". Hey, someone has to suck or there would be 10,000 pro teams and everyone could play. We just need to get these people to realize they suck.A good effort is just that, it doesn't make you "good" suddenly.

instead of having an A & B team, just create a few rules to weed the glory hunters out. ie: just like in varsity sports, you must attend the weeks practice to play in fridays game. and you must attend or play in X amount of games to play in tournament if you make it. Just with a little practice, the sucks arent so sucky anymore, just manage your rotations to try and only have one/two turd players in a rotation.

sounds like you need a manager ;)

We had a Co-Ed softball league team. You want to talk about sucking. I know it is a fun league and still want to be competetive. Well we had too many people on the team so i tried to rotate people in and out every 3 innings. Of coure people complained. Then the female factor came in. There is a rule that you need to have 3 females playing in a game, or 2 and you get an automatic out each inning. Well getting the girls to show up was a pain in the arse. I would email at work all week that there is a game and we need the girls to come out. Well out of like 10 games we forfeited about 7. They just didnt show up. And like other we had people that just werent good show up at the odd times. I was originally gonig to be assistant coash, then our coach decided he didnt feel like showing up. And i just like to play the game not do rosters and stuff, so i had to deal with people wanting to play here and there and then not listening to me when i give them a potition and they change, or change batting order on me. Lets say i am never doing it again. I am looknig for the kickball league down here, now that is more my pace. :)
