Got my new axle shaft in for my Dana 30 (with vac disco), passenger outer shaft with u-joint and spindle/stub shaft.
Problem is, there is no pilot bushing IN the end of the axle shaft that rides in the vac disco (this bushing is inside the outershaft, rides on a lip on the inner shaft to keep the two shafts aligned, so that the collar will slip on and off)
I need to get one of these bushing in the shaft TODAY (or tomorrow AM) I have the old shaft with a good bushing in it, but I can't find a puller small enough to fit in the bushing (it's about 5/8" ID).
Does anybody know a part number for this bushing? NAPA, CarQuest, and AutoZone can't find any listing on it.
Anybody have a magic way of getting this bushing out, without destroying it (I need to reuse it if I can't find a part #)? I've tried the heavy grease and a dowel trick...the old hydrolic approach...no movement.
Anybody have another suggestion on what to do with it? I have TJ shafts to fit (and eliminate the vac disco) but I can't get a TJ axle seal to fit in my axle tubes without grinding at the diff housing...
