I have broke the driver side outer axle shaft on my 2000 Cherokee an need to find a replacement. I was wondering is there someone I could buy one from or is there a good junkyard in the Asheboro area. I had a friend give me one off an 93 cherokee and it was all the same but the U joint hole was slightly smaller. The other question I had is if it would be bad to just drill this out a little bigger and use that one.

I would not recomend trying to drill it. They are a pressed fit and have to pretty precise, if you were extremly adventurous and had mill you you could try boring it but I still think it would be easier to find the correct axle.

That was gonna be a last resort. I would take it to work and bore it out. Looking more for a replacement but everywhere online seems to have only the full kits. :(

You can buy alloy stubs separately. I may have one layin around I'll try to look tomorrow. I'm in WV and I'll have to ship it though.

OK, So I replaced the outter axel shaft and put a new u-joint in and started to drive around. It still is squeeking like crazy and I cant figure out why. Sounds like a bad u-joint but i just changed it. Also I know my steering is a little out of line since I can barely turn left. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Hey call me at (910) 584-1000 ask for brett. The same thing happened to me on my TJ. You can turn right fine but you cant turn left hardly at all. Its your drag link its bent. If you have any questions call me.

Have you checked the unit bearing? Jack up the tire for which ever side is making the noise and with the wheel still on, try to wiggle the tire at 12 and 6, and at 3 and 9. If you have play, the unit bearing is probably toast.
