I know some of you guys on here run 4x4 shops.

I need to know what the lowest gearing I can go in my Dana 30 front is. It is in a 1994 Jeep YJ Wrangler. I always thought it was 4.88 gears but someone told I can go as low as a 5.38 in it.

What I understood is that a regular rotation could could go as low as 5.13 gearing and the reverse rotation could only go as low as 4.88. If I am not mistaken my Jeep has the reverse rotation in it.

You have a Reverse Rotation D30. 4.88s is the lowest low pinion or high pinion D30 can go.

That is what I thought. I was almost sure I was being feed aline of shit thanks.

Ok my next Dana 30 question is this. I have 3.73 gears right now. If I go to 4.88's would I need to chage my case? I think I had to change it when I did the 3.73 gears and will not need to do it this time.

No, you will be fine with the 3.73 up to 4.88s. The case break is 3.55 and numberically higher. When you went to 3.73s you switched to the correct carrier.

Let me know if we can help you with anything.

Thanks for the info if you dont mind quoteing me the price for 4.88 gears for a Dana 30 reverse rotation with a rebuild kit and 4.88 gears for a ford 9" and a rebuild kit. Can you PM me the quote?
