Just got a 99 Tj with the 30 still upfront. The problem is when you back up the wheels put in at the top then when you pull back forward the straighten back up. I've replaced the tie rod ends, the unit bearings, and the poly bushings in the lower links. The only thing we've found that seems out of place is the lower link adjuster bolts were replaced with reg bolts and rounded out the slide adjuster on the axle. Has anyone else seen this or have just got something that odd. I've had it aligned twice and it was dead on until I backed up and the shop guys just said that's odd and pulled it around!

you replaced all the rod ends? It sure looks like the tie rod needs adjusted for toe in.

When you pull foward it's dead on, when you back up it toes out and the top goes in. It's almost like the axle is rolling, witch it might be with all the lift and stock upper control arms???

Well I guess just don't back up  Seriously, I would have someone pull it foward and back while watching to see what is going on. It can't be good if it is moving that much.

I have noticed the rig sits high in the front end and when you back up it feels like it sqauts alot, maybe it's rolling the axle.

Have you checked the upper control arm bushings at the axle end. They are pretty common to have problems.

If thats not it just hit the local pull a part and put a cherokee front d30 in. That way you get the high pinion.

The uppers haven't been changed yet. Was told this this was geared so going to hp would mean new gears.

Have you jacked it up and wiggled the wheels, to see if the problem lies within, such as wheel bearings? Mine did some weird things like yours when it had bad wheel bearings.

He specified the unit bearings were replaced.

Chris, a friend had an f250 do that years ago, but I can't remember for the life of me what was causing it.

Im gonna say the axle is rolling, putting too much caster in it so the "flop" in the steering which the y link crap has is showing up as camber change rather than toe change.
But i'm also trying to help by looking at a pic on the intraweb so don't put too much faith in it.
Josh
