i hope someone else is having my issue... yj dana 30, regeared to 4.56 and has an xj passenger shaft in it. in the past 18 months ive had this damn diff rebuilt 3 times all bc of the pinion bearings wearing out

gaston automotive in dallas rebuilt it the last time. the first time i did it with a buddy and i know we had it right (cant remember what the preload spec was though) and when gaston automotive did it i dont know what they set it too. as far as the slinger and baffle i know they are in there... its very obvious that the ring gear has been rubbing on it. ive put alot of money into this dana 30 now and im starting to think it cant handle the interstate driving with that gear ratio and the 35's. ive been lucky so far that theres no damage to the ring and pinion. but still its very agitiating...lol

Sounds like you need to get someone who knows how to set up that 30. If you want to setup an appointment with us I will be happy to take a look at it. There has got to be something wrong with how it is being assembled.

Any chance the front driveshaft is bent? Get it balanced too.

even if u get the wearng issue solved d30 pinions get really small and weak past 410..i ran 410's on 35's and got a few months of wheelin out of it before i sheared all the teeth off the pinion.. that many in that short of time sounds like install error,ds wabble,or bent housing.good luck

i know the driveshaft is good as i just had it built back in march via carolina powertrain, im thinking its install error too. ive been through everything with a fine tooth comb and i dont see any signs of the housing being bent and the carrier bearings are still in perfect condition. luckily the pinon isnt sheered or have any signs of damage at all.. u guys think its a wise time to think full with... 60's ore 44/60?
