Alright, so i have done alot of researching on the most popular forum websites i could fine and people have had mixed emtions about doing this.
I currently have a 97 XJ with the non-vacuum front D30
and a ford 8.8 (Disc brakes and 4.10s) in the rear..
I want to to the cheap Dana 30 upgrade out of a older XJ with 4.10s so that i can have my 4wd back..
Now i have read that i can take my current 1 piece axle shaft and replace the dana 30 2 piece axle shaft with it. Giving me the Non-Vacuum axle... All i would have to do is remove the inner fork, and place a oil seal in the passenger side axle tube.. And then i can either remove the old Vaccum setup on the axle and replace it with a plate or i can simply keep it there and disconnect the vacuum lines. I would prefer not to do the $200.00 Cable posi-lock option, simply because i do not have 200.00 to blow on this axle build..
With this XJ being my DD/Trail Rig & Me being fresh out of high school, i need to have the safest and most effective way to get my 4wd back and be able to make it to Carolina Beach & Uwahrrie!!
Any help would be awesome!!
I'd really like to get the Jeep back on the Trail!!
Thank you for the posts!
