I bent my drivers side rear axel shaft after installing a locker. I replaced both axel shafts with Yukon cromoly shafts. When I got everything re-installed I now have my ABS light on....
What do I need to look at to fix this? Did I put grease somewhere I shouldnt have?

Also I pulled the locker out to put original spider gears back in and am missing thrust washer that goes between upper gear and carrie....anybody got an extra I can get for cheap?

Thanks, Nick

Do your new shafts have the tone rings on them? If they don't have them, you'll need to remove them from the old axles and press them onto the new shafts. Otherwise, how is the jeep supposed to get the ABS signal from the rear wheels?

did you say grease? There shouldn't be grease any where on that axle if i remember correctly, all lubricated my the diff fluid.

Your not one of those people who pack their carrier bearings with wheel bearing grease are you?

Check on the sensor rings, if not the abs might just need to be reset

What year is the vehicle

As the others have already said, you need the tone rings on the new shafts for the ABS to recieve the signal.

I wouldn't run too long or hard without the thrust washer. Your diff will chew up the spider gears in no time. I'd post up in "wanted to buy" for it. Many people usually just throw away all that crap when they discard their boat anchor, but someone may still have them. If you're close to any pull-a-part type yard, you could possibly get a set for a few cents as 35's are plentiful on junked cherokees.

I did not add any rings to the new shafts, so that is the first place I will look for ABS problem. I did place a light coating of grease across the axel shafts (didnt pack anything) when installing.
I wont install spider gears until I can get all the parts. The next plan was to either pull it or find someone that has recently installed a locker.

Thanks,
Nick
