So I scraped a tag on a front D44 under a 79 F150 the other day to reveal that it is 3.50 (Even) from the factory. 
I have never seen a 3.50 in a dana axle of any kind but searching tells me they do exist (42 ring / 12 pinion) for the D44. Anyways, new to me but I thought 3.54 (46 ring / 13 pinion and 39 ring / 11 pinion) were the only options for D44 to match a 3.50 9" rear. Learnt something...
I'd imagine the 46/13 (3.54) would be the strongest between the 3 sets having more teeth?
