Dana 44 exact Identification

The Dana 44 I have is from a late 70's ford.

Leaf sprung, disk brakes, 2.75" tubes, 8 lug.

I thought only F-150 crew cab where leaf sprung 2.75" tubes but 5 lug. Does that mean I have that axle with 8 lug outers swapped on? I need to know for sure for ordering chromo shafts.
 
might be worth pulling the shaft, taking a few dimensions, and confirming these with the vendor??

werent the f150s coils in that time frame, and the 250s leafs?
 
It does sound like someone has swapped 8 lug outers onto the axle, which would mean since you have 8 lugs it would have a 9.72 outer stub shaft IIRC. Alloy usa sells the shafts and they are under 68-79 f250 dana 44 or something. Im in the same boat you are with swapping the 8 lug onto the 5 lug. But it would be a good idea to pull the shafts and measure lieks tated above. Oh and CPerry is for sure who you want to order with!
