I am trying to keep my D44 front housing a 5x5.5. It has 1990 IFS Bronco rotors on it now. The housing is from 86 Wagoneer and the brake brackets have not been changed. What do I need to make all this work? This is for a YJ. I have 8.8 all set up for the rear. I really don't want to convert the 8.8 to 6 lug. Please help me.

thanks for the web info. r you saying i have the wrong knuckle for the caliper to fit with these rotors? I will read up on the web info you supplied.

I dont really care what the wheel bolt pattern is. It is cheeper to convert the 8.8 to 5x5.5 than to a 6 lug. Right now I have stock tj canyonn wheels. can you make the d44 a 5x4.5 like the 8.8? I still have my dana 30 for parts.

I don't think you can make that work. I cant think of any combination of parts that would make a 5x4.5 dana 44, unless you get TJ rubicon outers. and even with that, i dont think they will work on an older housing. Redrilling the 8.8 to a 6 lug pattern shouldn't be hard for a competent machinist to do. Hate to say it, but i think you are SOL on running those wheels.

yeah i thought so. if i can get the pieces to make 5x5.5 work then i can get some wheel adapters and make the 8.8 match. just have to find the right parts to make the d44 a 5x5.5 pettern.

Think i figured it out. I need chevy disc brake spindles with small inner bearing surface, '73 to '76. I might have drum brake spindles. Any one out agree with what is going on?

I thought I typed this out before, but must not went through...

you have a few choices:

1) Redrill the 8.8 to 6x5.5
2) Convert front to 5x5.5 using 78-79 F150/Bronco hubs/rotors and FSJ/GM small bearing spindles or redrilling the hub/rotor; and run adapters in the rear
3) Convert the front to 5x4.5 by redrilling the hub/rotor or using '75-79 Dodge outers (everything from the knuckle out). It is fulltime, and a weaker setup. Also your wheels might not fit over the hubs still...

yeah thanks. All i need is the chevy spindles. already have rotors and locking hubs. where can i find the right chevy spindles?
