Dana 44 info needed

Guy comes into our shop. Wants to talk to the resident rock crawler expert. So he is directed to me. OK so I am alone in the shop and he asked me a question
He has a 68 Ford F250 4X4
Dana 44 3500lb front axle with drum brakes. He wants to put disk brakes on it. What does he need? from what donor? I have never done this, so just wondering all the in's and outs of doing this swap.

there is some good info here http://77cj.littlekeylime.com/flatop_knucles.html its geared to the flat top conversion, but its got plenty of info.

i would think that you would have to get the whole outer assembly. knuckle, caliper bracket, spindle, rotor, and hub.

Early Fords like that have close knuckles on them. I don't think that you can easily swap disks on them.

I believe it would be easier to find a newer model axle with open knuckles that would already have disks.

Find a 76-79 full size Bronco or F150 front end and swap it out. Be a lot cheaper.

If it is a F250 it is more than likely a High Boy with leaf springs in the front. And it will also be 8 lugs.
