I got new hubs, rotors, lug studs, etc for my SAS im working on. tonight i was tryin to put the lug studs on the hub/rotor and could not get them to seat through the rotor and into the hub. so since they are not seating completely, theres a gap. i tried a mini sledge and an air driver/hammer but neither seemed to work. i also tried to torque on a lug nut using an impact... still nothing.
do these have to be pressed in? got two pics below to help explain. thanks

You have the dustshield in the wrong place. They go over the studs on the knuckle not behind the hub.A hammer and a punch usually does the job.

if you mean the disc brake dustshield, yes, it goes on the knuckle studs between the caliper bracket and spindle. but thats not where i have the problem. i'm pretty sure i have it put together correctly, but there is still a gap between the flattened backs of the lug studs (pic 2) and the inside of the rotor face. meaning, i don't think they are fully seated. heres a pic of a TTB dana 44, different axle but same idea. you can see the studs fit through the rotor and into the hub:

hope that helps

Don't pull it together with a lug-nut. If it does close the gap, chances are it will f-up the threads and you'll just have to start over. It is probably best that they are pressed in.
