Looking to up to a 44 in my 88 yj. Had a Dana Super 35 with usa alloys axles and ox locker but i have had nothing but problems with it engaging, disengaging, and falling apart. The roll pin sheared that holds a steel shaft in for the 3rd time so im done with it (chewed up my gears). Was thinkin of buying a detroit for my super 35 but i think im just going to get a 44 for it instead.

Do you guys think i will be fine with the usa alloys and just get a detroit for my 35 (run 36s) or do i bite the bullet and get a 44?

Also what 44 is a close swap? same width and bolt pattern? i was also considering th 8.8 but i know its shorter than the axles i have now.

there was a right up in a magazine ive read. the f250 d44 is pretty close. think its like a half inch difference. the write up just moved the shackle mounts further apart.

If you want to stay with the same bolt pattern, go with a 8.25 or 8.8. With the D44 you will have to get wheel adapters or change the front at the same time with a D44. The waggy narrow tracs are right at the same same width as the YJ the front spring perch center pins are a 1/2" different.
