dana 44

does anyone know if you have to have a spreader to put gears in a dana 44 (4.88 gear ratio) ?

also, whats a open differential?

an open differential means , non locking , single traction. 4:88 will go in a 44

You don't have to have a spreader. It just makes things easier, although it also makes messing up the case easier too.

a spreader is not needed and this sounds like your first gear swap if you do it yourself be sure you have somebody there thats done a dozen or so

thanks guys. na my good friend thats a mechanic is gonna do it for me. he just didnt know if a 44 required a spreader or not.
