Dana 50 to dana 60

So I got a great deal on a dana 50 thinking I identified it as a dana 60.My ? Is can I run a dana 60 carrier in a dana 50 housing.to my understanding they are the same axle just different ring and pinion.If so how and can you Buy a kit?

Pretty much anything is possible with a good axle builder. My suggestion is to just sell the 50 and buy a 60 like you really wanted. Way less head ache.

Housing is different, the pinion is much shorter on the 50 so it is impossible to swap in a 60 gear set.

I think you can order an ARB for it in 35 spline. My biggest issue with the 50 is ground clearance is the same as a 60 but strength wise is between a 44 & 60.

So I read that link and actually called arb. They said that is possible but the 50 locker is just under a $1000 and you have to buy the whole gear set which is about $500.soooo I'm probably gonna just try and sell it as a whole.so if you know any body I have a 2001 ford f250 superduty frame,gastank and axles $600
