Is there a way to identify what vehicle a dana 60 came out off? I have read there is BOM numbers on them but haven’t been able to find on yet. Long story short I’m trying to order some replacement seals and such. Thing keeps leaking all over the place 😬

The BOM will be stamped into the tube. It will require you to wire wheel the tube. IIRC mine was on the left side.

Can you just measure the seal dimensions and match it up if the BOM isn't legible
This got me to thinking. Which seal is leaking. The axle seals on a FF are a pain. I just ended up RTV'n mine.

I was able to find a partial BOM.

11_74-7 and 3-3

Nothing really matches up haha

Isnt all of the rear d60/70 stuff pretty generic other than shaft lengths and the 30 to 35 spline difference?
Yes it is. Pinion seals are the same. Only difference is the hub seals between a select few applications.
Essentially, the seals are the same across the board. I'd pop out a hub seal and cross the National Seal number.

Didn't think the rear had a hub seal. Gear oil runs out to the spindle bearings on mine.

Something has to keep the gear oil from leaking out the back side of the hub.
A hub seal does a good job.
I was thinking of that seal inside the diff. Like on the front D60. I'm not very good with technical names of things.

Looks like a late 70’s ford rear.
Small tube.
What spline shafts does it have?
