Adding a block to the steering arm to the D60 in CUCV to correct for a lift.

The top four bolts come off no problem, but then the cap won't budge.

Even trying to pry it off I can get a very little daylight under it but it won't break free.

Any tips other than a bigger hammer?

I am assuming this is the side with the steering arm? if so it uses smaller versions of the taper split washers that hold D44 style steering arms on.
In which case you need to spray w/ PB Blaster and give some gentle love taps from a ford tool (BFH). from the top of the arm and the side till they loosen up and you can get them off.

Thanks. I did not know about the split washers. That explains a lot.

OK brain fart, AFAIK there ar no split washers, there should be studs with tapered seat nuts. If the studs are still in it may not be lettng the arm come off except a little at a time. In other words the are must come straight up or you will have to work it up a little bit at a time from side to side to clear the studs.
There should be nothing holding it down other than that unless someone welded it.
Sorry, its been a long night (work) and now I'm going to bed.
