Have a 1997 ford f350 4x4 with 3.55 rear.My question is the frt and rear carrier the same?I have found a Dana 60 power lock limited slip differential and need to know if it will fit the front?

No, the front is 35 spline DAna 60. The rear is Sterling which is not similar. Most rear 60's are 30 spline so the limited slip unit probably will not fit.

Assuming the same gear ratio range and spine count, yes. A dana 60 front carrier is the same as a dana 60 rear carrier

The spline count is not the same except a few very very rare axles.
