Need to bore my dana 60 axle tubes in order to install my new yukon 35 spline shafts and i'd like to verify what i've come to almost accept as truth...

i need to bore the tubed 1.6" in diameter and i need to bore them 7" deep on each side, correct?

going to the machine shop tuesday and i can't afford to mess up this axle.

now my 2nd question... anyone in eastern NC have this done? if so, where did you take it? i have a shop lined up who thinks they can fit the dana 60 on the lathe but it's 100% positive so we will find out tuesday.... IF he can't, can anyone make suggestions on other places to take it?

and lastly, can anyone pass on to me the amount it cost you to have this same service performed? i don't wanna get riipped off too bad if i can help it.

thanks in advance.

Erik,

Contact Rob at Down East Off Road. He can point you in the right direction for a machine shop to do the work. Rob is in Wilson.

He didn't do mine, but I had his shop do my gear install afterwards. I can't remember who did my axle...But you are right...it must be done! I think I used a machine shop in Winterville, NC...Right outside of Greenville. Cost was around $150 to $175 I think. Do a search on Yahoo Yellow Pages.

Hope that helps!

Rick
