Dana 61

I have a Dana 61 in the front of my CJ7 and would like to go to a selectable locker. I am currently geared 7.17. Can I use a spacer to make my 61 like a 60 for parts availability?

get a lockright or "lunchbox" locker... it should allow you to use your current carrier

how are you geared 7.17 now with a 61.

it can be done with one spacer and machining the housing, if you want to bring it to durham I can gear it.

you could also run 2 spacers but thats pretty ghetto or make a custom spacer. in fact i think i might just have some 61 spacers made why not ill get it on it. rieder did it years ago but there no longer available.

according to the guy that had it before me it is. 55mph in high with 42in tires is starting to wind out (has a 3 speed 904)

It can be done, I had 7.17s in a 61 housing years ago, I used a custom made spacer.

You never got to witness The Krawler in action? Typically 7.17s came in aircraft tugs and the like, Ditch Witchs too I guess.

It is geared 7.17 in the back as well and I am running a Full Floating 60 with stock shafts (only broke one so far going to upgrade when I run out of spares)
