Thought this was interesting. Never heard of a Dana 70 front axle. And based on this guys thery of determining the gear ratio that would be a 4.87 gear. Anybody know any down falls to trying to use these axles?

I know I'd have to replace the hubs to SRW hubs. I'd have to put high steer arms on to convert the steering to the front.

Drum Brakes and Closed Knuckles..........

I would check spline count too. I would bet they are a course spine setup......

Thanks man.
Would dana 60 outter parts swap in?

Reread the CLOSED KNUCKLE comment.......;)

I am sure we could figure out a way to swap over 60 stuff, could probably even swap on open knuckle stuff if you wanted to get real crazy......but not worth the cost in my opinion....

I have changed these over to 35 spline, and 8 lug hubs, but the weak link then is the axle tubes. They will bow up real bad. Just a bad idea in general.

Dana 70 Fronts

There are some Open Knuckle Dana 70's floating around. Mostly find them under Utility company Truck conversions.

Monroe Truck Equipment (Up North...Wi,Mi,Il), Quigley's (Pa), Differential Engineering (Fl), Custom Differentials (Mo), Dynatrac (Ca) & Locally Carolina Rock Shop ie Zubs (Charlotte, NC) can probably build you whatever you want.

Just depends on how deep you wanna dig....$$$
