What does everyone use?

we are headed on to our 6 week road trip soon with the RV and figured we might as well get a dash camera for the trip.

we all have iPhones and iPads that it could connect to, but figure if the camera puts everything on a SD card, we would be fine as it would be stored. If we wanted the footage, we’d just download.

maybe I’m under thinking this?

I have the Escort M1 camera in my truck. Have the Rexing 5300 in my wife's jeep as well. Both work pretty well. Both use sd cards and loop recording. Can pull it out and view it. Also has a button to save the last few loops to prevent overwriting as well.

If I were driving an RV I would use more than one. One front, one rear. If I could swing it probably more than that. Front and rear facing on the sides.

I have a pile of the Yi ones off Amazon. They were about $50/ea plus SD card. Work fine.

I do have a new rear camera system that I can plug in up to 6 cameras into and view all at any time on my 8” monitor. Problem is I haven’t found an easy way to record that data. And it’s tough/time consuming to get power to each camera and data cables run. WiFi works, sometimes but can be spotty with a 40’ RV.

Bringing this back, I'd like to get one for each of our cars. Review websites tend all recommend something different, but a common brand seems to be Nextbase. Garmin also has a good looking unit.

Amazon reviews I'm sort of taking with a grain of salt

I use rexing in my semi truck and garmin in my wife's car. Think about what your goals are and what you want out of the dash cam. Eg. Audio, gps, rearfacing camer, etc. Honestly. Ask your insurance provider who they prefer. Your gonna wanna talk to an adjuster or someone thats not a call center robot.

I think rear facing is a good idea to have.
Also good idea to ask our insurance guy, haven't thought of that!
