I have some Rockwell axles for sale and last Fri the 3rd I was supposed to meet a guy named "Eric" from Hickory with one.I drove three hours and waited another three hours on him to show up.He never did.
I talked to Eric about 30 min before I was supposed to meet him and he said he was on his way. I called numerous times and left four messages but he didnt have enough backbone to answer much less call back.
Last night I got another call about the same Rock from a guy named "TJ".He was all about meeting me tomorrow in Asheville until I told him I needed 1/2 the money before I would meet him.He said he would send it thru Western Union this morning.
Surprise,surprise,He didnt send any money and he wont answer or return my calls.
I didnt get any last names but Eric said he lived in Hickory and had a 02 Chevy 2500 that he was putting Rocks under it.
TJ just called out of the blue and never really said where he was at.Both guy's have a hickory prefix on their phone #,and both were sending a rollback to get the axle,and both were wanting the same thing so I can't help but feel they are related someway.
I'm not crying over spilt milk,and am not trying to get people to harass them,but if anybody get's a call from these guy's at these #'s you better get some cash up front.

I believe Eric runs or works at a Wrecker service and or savlvage yard.
If any of you guy's know them be sure to point this out to them.Maybe they will respond,but I doubt it.They arent made that way.

Just because its 828 doesnt mean its Hickory :shaking:

It's a cell prefix, so it could be a "little" more spread out,
BUT they both show up as Hickory.

You really didnt think I didnt check it out a little before I said they were from hickory did you???
According to Yellowpages.com 291 is a cell phone prefix that covers the Hickory area.Might or might not be dead on Hickory,but close enough.

i hope you don't take this the wrong way, but you might want to take some of your own advice. you use this board heavily to run and promote your parts business, but i don't see that you give anything in return? just my opinion.

maybe you have in the past, i don't know. just going by your current lack of an orange diamond/star and basically all of your posts being in the for sale/wanted sections.

Point taken.Yeah I probably should support what helps support me.My bad,I'll fix that shortly.I have been a member in the past,it just ran out.
My lack of non swap meet post is due largely to the fact that I know almost no one on here.

I dont want to find them.I did this to warn other people so they are not waitng three hours in a hot truck for someone who will not show up.

Well ya took the first step and I see your diamond is back!
Don't worry about not knowing people on here. You live close enough to all the best trails so just get in on some conversations and you will soon know a bunch of the guys on here.
I don't blame you about the no shows, that is just a pity that someone would do that. I would be pissed too. There are some really decent guys from Hickory, unfortunately you ran across a couple that weren't.
On another note about not knowing some anyone, come on out to some of the rides posted in the events section, you will soon have many friends in the wheeling world!
 
I have sold parts to alot of people on here and have met alot of them in Asheville with parts and have never had a problem.With these two exceptions,it's alway's been smooth sailing.
 
thats why i refuse to meet anyone with parts unless i know them. sorry for you . glad to see you got a red star. and thanks for the tip on the no shows.
 
It will probably scare a few off,but from now on I am going to get at least 1/2 before I take off.Unless I know em.

Can't say I much blame you. With fuel prices, and to me your time is worth something. That was just wrong any way you look at it. If these two are men they will step up, apologize and at least shoot you some funds for what you are out.
 
Well the powers that be have come thru and I met the guy who was picking up the axle for TJ,Eric,Bill,Bob,Jack,Jerry or whoever.

Funny how a public callout gets the ball rolling.

Congrats for the sale, and kudos for them stepping up and following through with the deal :D
