Dealer dropped my truck off the lift!!!

*CUMMINS*

anyway, I wish you the best. It seems only a "great" body shop would be able to properly repair that rocker.

if it was a almost brand new truck...that was a same year model as the current year...with like...2500 miles on it....yeah, i'd say a new truck.....but yours is used. Just go get 3 separate estimates and present them to them and let them pay to have it fixed. Same thing if someone hit you...not a huge deal, and no reason at all to be a jerk about anything

This is why you pay insurance premiums. Call your agent in the morning and get them to send an independent adjuster out.

If your insurance company is worth a shit, they will make it right, whatever that happens to mean.

^ This is the route to go. Being an asshole won't get you very far...being stubborn will.

Personally I wouldn't be satisfied with a repaired truck myself. Another truck with similar or less mileage, in as good of condition or better than what I had would be the fair thing. I am sure there are plenty of trucks out there that would fit this description.

honestly, i quit reading after this, so if someone else said this already i apologize. a new truck would be nice, but you are better off getting your truck fixed than getting another truck with similar or less miles in as good of condition. Hell, it may have fell the lift last week, of been abused by a brainless teenager, or had the engine and/or transmission toasted, or never have been maintained, or any number of other things that the dealership may not even know about. get a lawyer, and make sure they fix YOUR truck right.

how do you not know how to spell the name of the motor in your truck when it is written on both fenders?

Are you guys really going to harp on the spelling? 9 out of 10 times people typo it. Give the guy a break.

 but I tend to agree... especially considering as many times on here as I see 'there,' 'they're' and 'their' misused. :shaking:

I would let the dealer handle it. They are likely going to fix it, will not go on insurance. If your not comfortable with them, you can file it on your insurance, they will handle the repair and collect the funds from the at fault partly. It will report this way. If your looking at the carfax scoring this probably lower resale by ~$25? Its not significant. You may be able to get some free services, extended warranty, maybe a better than average deal on a new truck out of it.

Update:
Truck is being repaired and I now have a rental mini van in the driveway. They are replacing the door skin and fender and repairing the rocker. We'll see when it comes from the shop!

if it were a collector car it'd most likely just be totaled. they don't have a very high value in the bank/insurance's eyes.

Not really true.
CCI is used for the top 5%, but even Liberty Mutual puts a book value of $11,000 on my 65 fastback.

well that may be true in your case, but i know of several cases back in highschool where a few kid's parents lost their 60's/early 70's cars to guard rails and ditches...and only one, had supplemental insurance, wasn't totaled and was repaired.

Man I would go for more.My Dad has a restored 65 coupe 289/auto that he has $15,000 on and I would think a fast back would be much harder to replace.
