Ok about two days ago i upgraded from rusty's 3inch lift to 4.5 rubicon express lift. now at about 45mph the xj start to jerk back and forth. But it only does it at 45, i had a front end alignment and the only thing i can think is that maybe one of my 34 Tsl's is out of balence. How can i fix this just looking for some general feedback

I've had that happen to my jeep with 2 different sets of tires. It only happened after they had worn down and become out of balance. Also make sure your front end components aren't loose or worn out.

My son's xj did the exact same thing after we put 4" of lift on it. If I remember correctly it was a rough country lift. His went to the death wobble at 50. He had mud king 33x12.50s with about 50% treadlife left. Once your tire get to that level balance is critical and check all of your front bushings. Easy fix, don't do 45.:)

your longer control arms gave you more caster, which helps reduce DW from starting. You said you just had it aligned.. what is your caster?

34" tsl's.. you mean TSL LTB's? That's an old mold, you may see improvements by finding the 2 most round tires and putting them up front...

Do check everything rubber.. bushings, tie rod ends, etc...

i know when my did it, it was mostly due to the fact that the track bar bolt was a little loose. the only other thing that might cause it to wobble is if any other bolts are loose and also the fact that your tires are bias and are hard to balance.

My CJ& did it with a lift until I put steel wedges between the axel and the springs........caster.....caster.....caster

Now I can practicly let go of the wheel on the interstate.

Death Wobble is scary!

like someone said, caster, caster, caster.

Also, track bar bushings and tight bolts are critical. For the RE, you can adjust the arms out to fix the caster, right?

i know it may be a bandaid to the real problem but my buddy did it and still worken, he put a steering stabilzer on it and it stopped it

tyler
