I have been aproached by one of my customers that is a larger chemical supplier. I was wondering what you guys are using for degreaser? I am getting ready to bring out a private label degreaser and want to test againist what everyone is using, both in price and results.

I am also looking to release a product for the offroad community, it is basicaly an oil dispersement(sp) alot like what the put on a large oil spill in open water.

Anyfeed back would be great! Also look for Snappy's degreaser soon. Thanks om advance guys...

I use purple for degreaser. It works great and its cheap. I have used Gunk in the past but have never really been impressed with it. Greased Lightning used to make a degreaser that worked really well on engines and stuff, but like all good chemical products you find, it was discontinued.

I cant wait till yours comes out so I can try some. I hate a dirty engine or garage floor.

Purple Power - Works good overall. Not great for really heavy grease/grime. For that I usually mix up a tote bin full to soak parts in etc.. That still requires some elbow grease.

Maybe something well suited for a soaking parts.

As long as its reasonably priced I'd buy it..

I use Simple Green exclusively. I've tried all of them and this one works the best for me.
this/\ fiend bought a 5 gallon bucket and put it in a parts cleaner.Did wonders to an extremely gunked up valve cover and rocker arms.Ate the paint off the top lid after he sat the cover down on it and didn't wipe it off quickly.

I mostly use Purple Power, buy it by the gallon in the "concentrate", then pour out into other containers (spray bottles etc) and dilute as needed.
I'm generally pretty happy w/ it, does a great job of cleaning nastiness off the garage floor etc.
I know that stuff works b/c of how bad it makes my hands shrivel up and crack, lol.

List of degreasers I have used
1. Gasoline - for really nasty parts
2.lacquer thinner - second stage of nasty part cleaning
3.Simple green
4. Zep degreaser
5. purple stuff
6.Brake clean
7. varsol
3,4,5,6,7 are all used for general cleaning .
1 and 2 are used for parts that have been under a vehicle for at least 40 or more years .

I put diesel fuel and kerosene in my parts washer. It was cheap and does the job.

Leaves a nasty film/coating that I think would make it hard to paint. I would probably go back over them with purple power if they are getting painted.

I use Purple Power in my spray bottles. Never really been impressed with anything other than brake parts cleaner.

I had a parts cleaner and had the really strong chemicals in it. Also put in the brake fluid from bleeding brakes(tales paint off all parts). Never found a rubber glove that could last over a couple of minutes! It also dissolved silicone! Anybody want a parts cleaner with a pump and a small hole somewhere for free!
