Deleting ads/post that are SOLD!!! DELETE YOUR AD!!!!!

Why do people still leave the ad up when the item/s have been sold. It's a headache when you go look at the item and scroll down and it reads SOLD.. Come on guys it literally takes seconds to delete the post!!!! It clutters the for sale section of this forum!!! :confused::confused:
 
Because sometimes it's nice to have the thread still around a month or so after if one party bitches or gets screwed. How hard is it to scroll to the bottom of the thread? I personally put "sold" or "sold pending funds" in the first post when it's sold..

And as was said, old threads are good for showing the going rate of parts/vehicles.
 
If the user deletes a thread, it doesn't really go away. It's recoverable in the event that it's needed to settle a dispute or something.

The 'official' policy is that threads that have been inactive for more than 60 days get moved into a hidden trash forum. In practice, they only get purged out when I remember to go do it. Either way, the thread is going to disappear sooner or later.
 
On another forum that I'm an administrator on we purge the sale section 30 days from the original post regardless of it's sold or not.

I don't mind those ads as much as the ones that get put up by someone who doesn't check this site very often and never answer their pm's. One things for sure, I can say I haven't ran across any scammers on this site.
 
Over the last week or so, I have had 4 people complain to me about a seller or a buyer(potential) not answering PM's. PM are the best way to go to communicate. I don't check all my posts everyday, or every time I get on here, but I do answer the PM's. Sure one may fall through the cracks every now and then( I get a lot!) but to me, it's just common courtesy!

Just want to bump this back up to the top. If you sell something, just delete your post. It’s easy and helps clean up the forum.

I dunno I like when people post sold for like 2 days.

When I'm the one trying to buy it and can't find it because it's immediately deleted I get really frustrated. Can't tell if it sold or if I just can't find it.
 
It's also nice to have the sold posts for the sake knowing market value. In my opinion, it would be cool if it would move to an archive forum so I could see what similar items have sold for and we could watch the ebb and flow of 7.3 prices among other things.
 
As per PM s, what ever is wrong with my computer, I don't get e-mail alerts. Also I can't "pre-view", I think it's called, a thread. I'm on here nearly every night [late], so that is when I catch PMs. It's just what it is! That's My excuse, anyway.

Either those alerts are going to your junk mail, or you need to go into your account settings and make sure you have it selected to notify you by email.

Also, you can use Tapatalk and get notifications that way. I have Tapatalk but I only use it for uploading pics since I prefer the mobile site thru my browser.

If you're using Edge, the preview doesn't seem to work. Works on Chrome, though.
 
I only use my browser, under Chrome. Checked my alert settings, again, I see nothing wrong. Here is a hint, if this makes any sense? Nothing from NC4x4 is in my "junk" file. But, as I have noticed before, I have Many post in my "deleted" section. Many look like they were deleted at the time they were posted, while others seem to be while I was probably reading them. Why would any, be in the delete section, but yet I get to read every one that I receive under "New Listings"?
