I don't think many get deleted after a sale...

I could be wrong, but there are an awful bunch of ads there...most where no one is answering/responding to

yep,

It only makes sense to delete them...
Otherwise, everyone in here that owns a SUV I would like to have...regardless of when you posted the ad...I'll be asking if you'd like to trade it for a 1991 Ford F150 Custom 4x4 V8

I'm just saying...clean it up!

Ad's self delete after 90 days , so you shouldn't be seeing stuff any older much older than that, though it's 90 days from the last post in the thread, not the original date posted.
from section rules.... said:
90 Days - All ads not active for 90 days will automatically be purged from the system. If you wish to keep your ad active simply update it, or post a reply to your thread indicating you still have the item(s).

I did not know that. What's up with my Jeepjunk ad (in my signature)....last post about a year ago, I edited it 4 months ago?

ya might want to check on that self -deleting feature...

because folks still check you link, so it is an active thread, whther they post or not

remove the link, and it'll go away in 90 unless some one hits it again

I especially like how the for sale sticky says DO NOT READ THIS!!!! It made me read it, twice. I just felt like being bad.

take a gander into the cars for sale posts...

I just asked if several were still available and asked for some that say sold to be deleted

Unfortunately by doing that, the entire For Sale now is flooded with old stuff, the peopel who psoted their new stuff has been pushed back. a few pages. I dont know how long people go back in the archives for stuff for sale. I know i will go only 1 or 2 pages back and stop looking. Every so often a person will bring up an old sale ad. Generally it is is a new person that gets in to the real old stuff looknig for a certain rig. They don notice the date of the ad was a year ago. :( Yeah people should delete their stuff. But i think if an ad is over say a month old and it wasn't bumped up, then it was sold.

Apparently you have countless hours of time to dig up all these old ads.

We sure appreciate that you brought to light that there are ad's that are months old and you have the time to search them out and in them knowing the probability of return.

It's not a perfect system by any means, but it works until someone does EXACTLY what you did. All those that you dragged out will now require ANOTHER 90 days of no action before they have a chance of being deleted.

THANK YOU !!!

This remind me, I need to add to the for sell section.... Are ya done pulling up old threads so mine does not get lost?(can you belive me.. of all people have 38 in super swappers with rims for sell, and an old fish tank  )

I think this thread should be deleted. It's just stupid

I think we should delete Jeff...Im just sayin....

WEll, if you noticed when the last posts of each thread were, it wasn't far off of 90 days, and the last time they were visited was probably a few days to a week or so after the last post.

If you had left them alone, they would have self deleted.

NO, WE will not search for old for sale ads to delete, how would we know if it was sold or not ? maybe it was maybe it wasn't. this is why there is a self delete feature in the software.

Works fine until someione thinks they know more about whats going on than the rest of the group and drags up 3 month old threads.

WOuld you go thru a 3 month old newspaper looking for a used car ?

A little common sense would dictate an ad 3 months old may not be worth messing with, but then, one would also think a PM to the person originating the ad may be more appropreate.

Instead, we'll just piss off everyoine else in the slaes forums dredging up old posts.

Makes sense to me.

A repeat perfomance is probably not a good idea.
