DESPERATELY NEED HELP!!!!
OK I got thus sye on trade guy sold his jeep or something and never installed I have a 1997 tj Wrangler sport edition with a 231 - j 272 ratio I believe so I had an old spare tcase sitting in garage same tag 231j with 272 ratio figured I'd save some time go ahead and break the spare tcase down pull the main shaft and swap the gears onto the sye shaft..... all goes well the 231 is pretty straight forward I pull the shaft remove the snap ring and gears from original shaft place the 2 shafts beside each other and clearly where the gear goes and the bearings ride on the Smith part of the 2 shafts are different diameters???
Main question ..... how do I identify this sye shaft to figure out exactly what t-case its for obviously its for a 231 j jeep but something is clearly off?
