My buddy has a spool in his 9" that he drives on the road a lot.He was looking to get a detroit to take the place of it and was wondering if it would be a huge difference between the detroit on the road compared to lockrite.Which one is smoother for the road? Thanks.

I DD'd w/ a detroit in a jeep for a long while its very predictable once you learn the quirks. Same as any locker, keep your tire air pressure adjusted properly.. IMHO the Detroit is a more robust unit that the lunch box.

PLUS with ECGS selling the side couplers and other parts for a decent price I would run them now no questions...

I had a detroit in the 9" of my old FS Bronco. I thought is was very smooth and quiet for a locker.

I have a detroit in my tj, I think it's very smooth on road. I dd'd it with the detroit for 4 years or so.

The lockrite is cheaper, will function just fine. I think the detroit is stronger. I guess it boils down to how much coin you're looking to spend.

I have lockright in front (D60) and detroit in rear(14b). I think the lockright is a little more mild mannered, but both do the job very well.

lockrights are weak in 9 inches, and the detroits are the least expensive of any other detroit. I would go detroit.

This is the advice I would follow if were me! Chase sells and installs these things I would doubt he would steer you wrong.
