Alright bought a used 4cyl detroit, went to install, and the ring gear bolts are to short. the detroit carrier is thicker then the stock carrier. everyone i have talked to says detroit uses stock bolts. form what i can remeber when i did ny other one they were stock length as well.
one question is is this a detroit, it looks like a detroit, acts like a detroit, axle shafts slide in, ring gear fits on and all the holes line up the backlash will set up right, i tested it. everything fits but the bolts to short.
Fastenal laughed at me, I believe the bolts are M11-1.0 pitch and i need a 30mm, fastenal only carries m10 and m12's.
the locker has no markings on it whatsover so i can't call detroit and ask them if it is one.
does anyone have a clue b/c i don't?
still have not figured this out but i have my known toy detroit out and apart to compare to.http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=563430 i posted them on this pirate thread

Pics? There is a place here in Charlotte that would have the longer bolts if you need them.
All the detroits I have seen take the same length bolt.

I responded on pirate, but it is definately not a nissan detroit, they are 31 spline as well as it would use a ring gear around 233 mm or 9 and a little less and 1/4"s. Good luck!
