So the other day I was cruising and I heard the amber lamps rolling up on me. I pull to the side to let it go by as did the other cars in front of me. However, once it passed the guy in front of me proceeded to whip back into the lane and pass 2 cars before getting cut off by the third. Is it just me?

You pull over for wreckers and mailmen?? Yeah must just be you.

I've done the same thing before, but I was younger, and a dick. I am no longer younger, however I am still a dick.

Dick move. Akin to driving in the lane that has been closed for months, with signs for a mile and a half warning you that it was closed, then squeezing in at the last minute, making the whole line of other drivers slam on brakes.

The dick move there is actually the guy in the other lane that speeds up to try and squeeze him out.

No, bastard should have gotten over at some point in the previous mile and a half, like the other 98% of traffic. Unfortunately, someone always slams on brakes, lets them over, and further perpetuates the slowing of those who can read and drive ahead of themselves for the sake of the dick movers.

(though I do agree about speeding up, thats why I don't leave any space once you get to the point of no return)

Elsewhere in the world, everybody moves at the flow of traffic up until the lane is closed, and then they alternate cars and mesh into one lane.

That's me. I enjoy being the guy that screws the guy trying to pull the dick move. That and washing the windshield when someone is tailgating me are my trademark moves.

Because everyone drives the same route you do everyday and knows exactly where the lane ends or never misses the sign because ...well whatever

In the Charlotte metro area, it's a game to see how many people you can zoom ahead of before getting over, thereby slowing down the open lane even more.

I was first person to a red light the other day and an ambulance is coming through so i pull right to give way. After it passes, dickhead in a BMW zooms up beside me and blocks me from getting my spot back. It was on then! I could barely see his trunk lid until he hit about 60 in a 45. My wife told me to keep after him but my better judgement kicked in

You guys are doin it wrong, You pull in the about to be closed lane and then match the speed of the through lane, then watch the dicks cuss and jive behind you, you may have to swerve a time or to if they try to go around you on the shoulder. EVERY time I've done it the peeps beside me will play along, the traffic moves steady, and everybody finally merges smoothly. I've gotten thumbs ups and clapping from the undick drivers each time also when it's rolling slow.

It is obvious who the dick's are. They are the one's going MUCH faster than all the cars in the main lane that is not closing down, and who drive ALL the way up to the end and THEN try and get over. FUCK THOSE DICK'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:flipoff::flipoff::flipoff::flipoff::flipoff::flipoff::flipoff::flipoff::flipoff::flipoff::flipoff::flipoff: It is times like that I wish I had a huge old bomb of a car and $100,000,000 in the bank so I could just plow into them and really slow their day down.

The ones who don't know WTF is going on because they never traveled the road before are usually NOT speeding past everyone else trying to obviously gain positions and don't wait until the last possible minute to get over.

You're just pissed because you're waiting in line with all the suckers.

That chit got so bad out there on 40 west south of Raleigh w the mornin rush hours they finally closed a miles long merge lane I hear it fixed it for all them newly arrived no drivin, Jco wannabe rednecks. I swear there was at least one wreck a mornin and often multiple rear enders mon-fri.

It's like that regardless. There's always some guy in the hammer lane doing the speed limit and the leftmost two lanes are backed up with people playing like they're trying to catch the draft at Talladega. One guy up front gets nervous and goes tappity tappity on the brake pedal and everybody behind them two-foots it as soon as they see the red lights. Smash.

That crap is so bad between exit 27 and 26 on 85S in Gaston County that the far RIGHT lane moves faster even having to deal with merging traffic from the on ramps.

I40 is the same. I drove back and forth to Durham for about three years. There was a typical pattern that was pretty easy to pick up on once you drove it a few times. The second lane from the left usually moved the best, but there were certain areas where you were better off moving to the far left or moving a lane or two to the right. The right lane was the fastest approaching an exit ramp, then you could move over a lane to avoid the merge traffic from the entrance ramp, etc.

I stopped working out there in Jco. and heading towards Ral. in the morning before the lane closure, I hear it helped?

I could never figure out why the left lane would almost always STOP near Davis/5-40 heading east in the P.M. but the other lanes would rarely WTF? I don't remember seeing many wrecks at all ( in the left lane )

peeps would drop to 50-45 merging from 147 to 40 east, saw MANY close calls at the RR bridge where it goes to one lane just before the merge. It was better to move right as soon as I got 40, the slowpokes would take a mile to get back to 70mph just in time to stop or slow to a crawl while the right lanes often rolled on even w the on-ramps I never understood why.

I think the police should be able to give tickets to people who are trying to merge onto a highway at much slower speeds.
