Didn't see that coming. Gander Mountain's dead

Academy's "low price guarantee" is pretty good. Match any local competitors lowest price and take another 5% off. Picked up a ruger American .45 when they first came out for about $40 less than I could find it anywhere online.

I was working at Overtons when GM bought them out. Overtons was bought primarily for the Call Center/Distribution. I hope this does not affect Overtons in a negative way. I wonder if anyone is going to buy out GM? Only thing I bought from GM was a Liberty Fatboy Jr safe. Got it on sale and they priced matched as well.

We have a Dunhams in town. It started out as the Kmart of outdoor stores. Now it's priced just as high as any other outdoor joint. Not to mention every time I get a coupon it never seems to apply to anything i want. Went to buy a kayak a few weeks back with a 20% off coupon only to find out it doesn't apply. Checked out a few guns. Didn't apply. Looked at some paddle boards. Yep you guessed it. Didn't apply. Finally said f$&k it and left. I try and buy local but it seems online is where it's at.

I'm not certain our Dunhams in town has any employees. ..can't get waited on...they won't last long

Our Dunham (Wilkesboro) has American Eagle 223 ammo on the shelf for $3/box higher than the Walmart next door. I've never bought a thing from them, no plans to.

Hit Mooresville today, don't think I've ever seen as many people as I saw in there today. Everything is 10% to 30% off (except guns and ammo). Didn't see anything cheap enough to make me buy it except some motocross goggles for the kids for 4 bucks a pair.

Buddy of mine stopped by the Fayetteville location and said it looked like Walmart. It was slammed with people. Don't know how the deals were, but I guess going out of business finally got em some customers.

We went to mooresville Sunday on our way home from church. It seemed like the stuff with the higher discount was the stuff that never really sells anyway. Ended up buying some clothes (20% on a bunch of UA stuff) and a new cover for the boat. I was joking with my wife that the 10% off the sporting goods section put them at about normal prices everywhere else. I might swing back in there later this week to see if they drop the prices any more.

I was reading an article...can't remember where...but said something to the effect of Gander Mountain firearms and ammo won't be discounted, but will be 'transferred/sold' to other stores. It was on the Internet, soooo...

Edit...just did some googling. Apparently Lemonis just bought the IP and store fronts. He didn't buy the rights to the inventory, a liquidation company did, so they're doing just that, liquidating. Lemonis only has the intentions of closing half of the stores.

Liquidations are highly profitable and average a higher margin than when the store was in regular operation.

Yeah, I believe it, people were buying like shit like it was black friday, not even looking that for the most part they still payed too much. Too many people buy stuff just because it's on "sale" I'm too skeptical and always look at the price somewhere else, half the time or more the "sale" is BS.

The guns were marked down %5, I'd drive a 1/2 mile down the road to Academy Sports and get it for $100 less than the going out of business sale.

The one in morrisville has guns marked at 15% off so now they are at msrp.

Went to the one in Greensboro Friday night. What a joke. Guns were 5% off. Clothes were 20-30, and some of the more expensive jackets were the only thing close to reasonable. Protip - the Amazon app includes a barcode scanner. You can see how much you're getting ripped off just by scanning it in. On average, things we could find through Amazon were 10-15 dollars cheaper.
