does anyone make an electric die grinder preferably angled that isnt junk? i have a POS air compressor and im trying to avoid upgrading it just so i can use die grinders. doin a bunch of welding on the body of my jeep. (rockers, dovetail the rear, blah blah) and would like a convenient way to take care of my welds.

or if i was forced to upgrade air compressors what would be a sufficient minimum? lookin at the 33gal. craftsman 150psi 6.3cfm@40psi and 4.9cfm @ 90psi

That air compressor would still be working constantly. Ir makes a pretty nice cordless die grinder but it is pricey. around $350 with two batteries and charger.

Need to be looking around 8.5-9cfm to run a good die grinder. It's not always pressure the makes the air tools work the best, it's volume. I'd invest in the compressor, it'll pay for itself in the long run.

i believe it would pay for itself but i dont have that kinda money to invest.
i was lookin at diegrinders in summit and a IR die grinder 1/4" required 3cfm at 90psi is that a low end grinder?

IR aren't junk. They make couple different sizes. You would be ok to run that combo, but the compressor would run almost constantly.

I got a cheap-o compressor from lowes & added another 20 gallon tank. It will run my die grinder for about 5 or 8 min. before I need to stop for a while.

Like said above volume is where it's at

Just build a York OBA setup with an electric motor. Those things put out a ridiculous amount of air. I've seen a number of different setups for shop compressors. IIRC there was a thread on here about it a while back.

If your going to get a compressor, I'd recommend an 80 gallon and if it's going to be in the same building as you.. do not get an oil free. My two-stage 60 gallon runs non-stop with a D/A or other cutting/grinding tools, and it's very loud since it's oil free.

most all power tool manufacturers make one. Its called an end grinder. A lot of pipe welders use them to help prep and fit pipe for welding. They are high rpm, same as a die grinder, but have much more torque and do just as good if not better.

We have a few DeWalt and Milwaukee ones and they both work really well.

end grinder! thanks for that info never heard em called that. imma go check the local airgas. anywhere else local i could look. didnt see any at lowes

ill just save up my xmas cash and get a good compressor in the spring.
