i was out the other day on a trail and i put my 91 wagoneer in park and cut the motor and when i went to start it nothing happend it just sounded like it was choking for gas so i towed it down to a parking lot and came back the next day and it started right up.. a few people told me this may be because it was parked on a hill and the carb couldnt get fuel is that a logical explanation?? are there any other possibilitys

thanks Ben

Sure

How steep a hill was it?

Fuel Filter
Low fuel
Could have a junk floating around in your carburetor.
etc.
etc.

That's absolutly a logical explanation. Holleys are know for this. I had a EB that had a Holley on it and it'd get 17-18 MPG out on the highway, but when wheeling in Canyonlands NP in Utah, I had to back up all the steep hills cause the carb would run out of fuel. Afterwards, every one I talked to said the float was out of adjustment, but after adjusting the float a dozen or so times I just got a Carter and it worked much bette in the hills. Got lousy gas mileage though. So you might look up how to adjust the float level on it and try that.

What Carb is it? Stock carb is a MC2100, you'd have to have it on a pretty steep incline to do that. Assuming the carb is in functioning condition.

a Holley, ya, good possibility.

Other possibility is electrical. A wire could have a bad connection that made contact again on the tow back. I had that happen with an ignition wire the first time I ever took my CJ to URE.
