There's a turbo under the hood! Was this some weird Chrysler/Jeep cross platform CTD model jeep? Still, any diesel that doesn't smoke on startup makes me suspicious!

Might've been brought here from overseas. Not sure if Jeep made any diesels here in the U.S. And, it's an '85, so Chrysler wasn't involved yet.

Well I'll be. Proof the diesel existed! Apparently it is a Renault 2.0 or 2.1l TD.
