About the only smoke you'll see billowing from a Banks-tuned rig is tire smoke.

Funny how every truck they have their hands on and throw their parts book at "doesn't smoke because that's wasted fuel" but every truck I've ever seen with one of their tuners on it smokes just as much as the competition.

Say what?

Agreed.

and we should all note that if our diesels were equipped with positive displacement superchargers, of-idle throttle response would be phenomenal, and smoke would be decreased greatly.

Their S-10 drag truck probably burns enough nitrous to power a small municipality. That generally helps burn some more fuel too :D

I could have sworn that I saw the Bank truck do something like a 6.92..... Either way, both are very impressive and I want one!

Why so many LB7's? I've heard they have a beefier bottom end, but I'm too lazy to do the research. Is there truth to that?

My first assumption would be lower cost and better availability.

I've been out of the loop for a while, but using stock parts atleast, the hot ticket was LBZ rods with de-lipped LB7 pistons. (LB7 and LLY rods are prone to bending, LBZ pistons are prone to cracking). Of course there are plenty of high strength aftermarket pieces available now. Once you start throwing huge turbos, twins, etc on them the VVT advantage of the LLY and LBZ goes out the window, although there are a few options out there to retain it such as Cheetahs. And bigger injectors tend to be a little cheaper for the LB7s.

Bringing up twin-charging reminds me of this...520 HP from 1.6l...:huggy: toyota guys been doin this for years..
