Im looking at buying a fj80 once i sell or get rid of my jeep and then do a diesel swap with a 6.2 and run it on biodiesel and biofuel.I wanted to know if there is someone in NC that does or is familiar with these swaps.

i just figured the 6.2 was easier to find and cheaper where would i find the 3.9 4bt

I like the website for the 3.94bt im thinking of buying a high mileage fj80 and then maybe having a professional install a 3.9 4bt? Also what vechiles could i pull one of those out of?

6.2 are guttless peices of shit.

I would rather have a 6bt than a 6.2. Why would you want to go through all the trouble to put a turd under the hood.

We could would do a 4bt or 6bt swap, I would not do a 6.2 I unfortunatly know alot about them and know enough to know you don't want to waste your time with it.

4bt would be easier to fit, 6bt could be really really fun to drive. maybe to fun after some tunage.

Ok im glad i found this out because i was looking at one with a 6.2 in it lol. Also any idea how much installion would be on a 3.9?

an 80 with a warmed up 3.9 would be super pimp!

I like the 6.2--have one from an 89 Suburban with a 700R going into my 83 Land Cruiser, like FL Cruiser from the IH8MUD forum. Check out his; he got it for the same reasons you listed--inexpensive, parts availability, plus its mechanically injected so its a good candidate for WVO/SVO. He's run his on Veggie for several years now with an NV4500 5-speed, and gets 20+mpg.
If you have no expectation for heavy duty pulling and turbo'd power, I think the 6.2 is a good candidate for a swap.

Then why do the swap! The 6.2 is a boat anchor. Why spend the time and money on a POS when you can spend the time and money and have something that will run worth a damn.

swap

I think you will find that either the 6bt or 4bt will be a little heavy for the FJ80.
