Need a schooling on this.
Getting ready to do the wiring for some new rooms in my basement.
I have a case where I need switches in at least 4 places to control 1 set of lights, and will probably do a combination of lights (dimming/fixed) in a room.
This will make wiring via standard switches a pain.
It occurred to me this is probably a good scenario for wireless switches, some kind of digital control system.

However there are probably a dozen or more standards/systems/options out there.
Any suggestions? Originally I haven't planned to do anything real fancy, but if there is a good architecture that will leave me lots of cool options later that's definitely a bonus.

Probably Z-wave. I haven't used it, but I have some friends that have. They've got neat stuff like electronic exterior door locks that are controllable via your phone, too. As far as stuff like that goes, Z-wave is a fairly decent industry standard for consumer-grade stuff.

Not dead set on digital, it just seems easier.
I need at least 4 switches for 1 set... a "5 way switch"... which basically doesn't exist. Yes I know it can be done with a string of 3 and 4-ways. But getting the wires run will be a major pain in the ass. Right now there is just 1 switch with normal 2 conductor wire... replacing that w/ 3 conductor will be a major chore.
