I will be headed to Asheville area Friday night. Was wondering about good casual places to take someone out to eat Friday night. Any help would be grateful.

I like 131 Main, it seems upscale but I have no problem going in jeans. We eat there whenever we are in the area. Nice place with good food and not to expensive. Kind of a local business, the owner is from Charlotte. They have a couple hear around the Charlotte area too.

Cinnebarre; supper, drinks and a movie. Not first release stuff, but good movies all the same.

Cinnabarre closed indefinitely. They are doing a lot of construction to the mall.

Rezaz is a great tapas wine bar in biltmore village. Our favorite.

131 main (like others said) is good in biltmore park.

12 bones will be closed for dinner but lunch is a must.

Dauraghtys took over Frankie bones in Gerber village and is good. It's brad dauraghty's that used to play for UNC and now commentates NASCAR.

If you want to eat downtown try to get a reservation to Curate'. The chef is one of the best in the country.

If you're in Asheville, please don't go to a chain. There are more good local food joints there than anywhere else in NC.

With that said, there's a chain or two in my recommendation list, but they're local ones.
The Gourmet Chip Company: don't let the name fool you, fantastic sandwiches.
Tupelo Honey: A twist on southern food but a long wait, so get your name in early.
Zambra Tapas: A little on the nicer and pricier side, but fantastic food.
Sunny Point Cafe: Best breakfast burrito I've ever had.
Salsas: Asheville style Mexican, only been once and I ordered the wrong thing for me, but overall it was still very good.
Mellow Mushroom: If you want the authentic Asheville hippy pizza experience.

12 Bones, Barley's Taproom, 9 Mile, Curate, Luella's BBQ, Mellow Mushroom, Sunny Point Cafe, Universal Joint, so many more.

Edit- Rocky's Hot Chicken shack is unreal. But it is way, way hot. Seriously. Try the fried mac n cheese there too.

Holler if I can help, been here for all but 8 months of my 37 years.

Listen to these guys. Did the same thing you did. Visited Asheville, Posted a thread, and took their advise.

However, I don't see Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack on here. It was mentioned in my thread and it did not disappoint .

12 Bones is great too.

How did I forget Rocky's? Its only 5 minutes from my shop. That tells you how many great places to eat are around here!

Lab "dark matter" pumkin porter is awsome
I'm typically a fan of their beers. Unfortunately I'm not a fan of pumpkin flavor beers, or IPAs, or Belgium style ales. That was 9 out of 10 on tap yesterday. The only thing left was Waves of Grain. Luckily I'm a huge fan of malts! That one was right up my alley!

Also if you like hot and fried chicken go to Rocky's Hot Chicken, it will change your life.

I NEVER FORGET ROCKY'S! I'm just glad is isn't too close to my house or I would have already dissolved my digestive system with all of the spicy hot goodness.
