What's involved? Just pull a fuse?

If the dash light is on its not going to pop. Trim a wire or pull a fuse.
Then pull your cluster out and remove that bulb so you don't have to stare at it.

98 has no disable switch that I'm aware of. I'm going to look for a fuse to pull.

I'm not sure how a pressure switch would change anything. I easily put 200# of weight in the seat when I cinch the car seat down. Just saying...

It takes in to account for what weight is sitting there, if its over a certain # of pounds but less than another it will turn the bag off, assumes there is a car seat there. Idk what year they started doing it. But my girlfriend calls me all the time cause the light for the air bag off is on and she forgets its cause her book bag full of text books is on it fooling the sensor. If its over say 75 pounds the system is active. In most vehicles that I have found. The presence sensors in the seat are fun to replace.

Open the glove box, you'll see the interior fuse panel behind there. There will 2 fuses that are labeled "air bag", remove them. They will be marked differently than the others. If ya need to remove the cluster to remove the bulb I can walk you through that too.

Right, but what I'm getting at is that to "properly" install the (child) car seat, they basically tell you to use all your body weight to compress the seat, then cinch it tight. Wouldn't that override the pressure sensor, so that it just thinks there's always a 150-200# person there?

You have a point, but does the seat belt hold a continuous 150#? I get what your saying, Never thought about it like that. Be interesting to see if the seat belt holds down that much weight in pressure.

I dunno... maybe I could put a scale under it and see.

But I can say that it deforms the seat foam, and it takes a little while for the seat to recover after you pull the car seat out.

Step 1- Unbolt and remove Steering Column

Step 2- Spin steering wheel until clock spring unwraps and breaks

Step 3- Reinstall steering column and enjoy disabled airbags and/or cruise control and/or horn :huggy:
