So.....

I'm working on a rig with USA 6x6 double beadlock wheels. I need to disassemble one. I'm not having any luck getting the tire bead off the rim. Does anybody have any suggestions. I'm beginning to think a grinder with a cut off wheel would work well and would be a fitting end to these wheels.

USA 6x6 blows.

you talking about the h1 double beadlocks? whats hard about them? unbolt and pry apart.

You can inflate them till they pop the seal, just make sure that you leave the nuts threaded on so that the halves don't blow apart. Also, don't do this if you are the lawsuit or injury prone type.

if they are 17's u are screwed . mine are and the tires wont pull across the ridge on the wheel that holds the bead on . i called daniel and he says the first wheels they were making were made with standard shells. according to him the new wheels don't have the ridge on the bead like normal wheels and should come apart easy. i don't buy it. anyways i have to use a track hoe to pull the center of the wheel while i use a cat skid steer to hold the tire down. i literally picks the skid steer up off the ground (6000 pounds) b4 the wheel comes apart

Oh, one more crazy idea of mine, which I actually used to get the rubber runflats out of hummer double beadlocks. Put an engine crane with the feet on the tire, and put a chain or strap to the center and lift. Nice controllable force.

Thanks guys. You all confirmed my fears. Looks like the only way to get them apart is brute force.

These are 15" wheels and they have the safety bead on both sides for some reason. What a PITA.

ps- this is my rig/wheels. sorry for using usa6xsucks. lesson learned.
I bought all quality parts to make this build easier except for these damn wheels.

thanks for sticking it out Jed.

If you've got more than 1 rig around, I've seen guys have good luck driving up on the tire to pop a sticky bead....obviously this is with the tire off the vehicle lying flat on the ground with no pressure in it.

Mucho harder to do when all you have is the rig and a daily.

Also a hi-lift against say some sliders (lifting the weight of the rig) with the base right next to the bead has worked well for me.

I like jeepinmatt's suggestion, but dear Lord be careful!

I've got a plan......it involves a tree and a winch. I'll take some pics of the process.

Use the engine hoist and pull it through. I did this with my XL's. The only way to go. Just do the first one slow until you get the hang of it. Sometimes they come out with a bang!!! Oh, and a big hammer. Put your back into it.

Yeah, putting some back into it is definitely a requirement and mine is taking a beating on this one, but the tree and the winch worked. I had to snatch it a couple times, but one half of the wheel came out. I may try the engine hoist to get the other half out.

I think I realized why the quality sucks on these wheels.....They're disposable. They're not meant to come back out of the tire. You install them once, then when the tire is worn out, you throw them away.
