Started browsing the market for disc brake rotors for no reason other than curiosity. I've noticed for just about any considered "performance" application there is a variety of standard, drilled, dilled/slotted and so on. The rotors on my front 60 are Wearever brand replacement for a '80 k30 with single piston calipers. Rear 14 bolt has plain Jane parts store '77 k20 front rotors with G20 3/4 ton calipers. Stopping is not terrible at all but just because I want to know, what would be a benefit to swapping over to a drilled/slotted rotor on a half street, half trail, non towing 4200 lb Jeep on 42s? Are they any better off road than standard flat rotors?

Slotted may help slightly with clearing mud/dirt/grit, but basically they won't make any difference. If you plan to run it hard at the track, the drill ones will crack along the path of the holes, but I don't think that's relevant to your application.

Cool. Just wondering. Thanks.

Its a bit of a catch 22.
The holes do help with heat dissipation, however you also lose contact surface area. So in a vacuum created perfect world you would have less surface contact area and have less braking capacity. However the rotors are never perfectly flat so in reality each of those holes have a lip that catches and drags on the pad. and in my experience actually shaves the pads down quicker.

Y'all have completely missed the point. If I put drilled and slotted rotors on my honda I could tell my brahs I have racing breaks(spelled incorrectly just to set the tone)

That's the other thought that crossed my mind.

Going off this feedback, I don't think I'll be wasting my time with them and just keep what I got. Thanks all.

You'd gain so much more by an improved caliper as opposed to a rotor.
The calipers on it now are slightly overkill IMO. Also have the mc bore(dodge 2500) to match.
