They try to add to much drama and its kind of insulting to the audience. Just show the animals in theyre natural state. Just like the show Big Cat diary, the awesomness of the animal is enough for me to watch.
 
I'm astonished some peeps go to the beach to live or vacation, but are afraid to enjoy swimming in the ocean for fear of sharks. I can think of alot of worse ways to die or be maimed.

You can think of a lot of worse ways to die than to be swallowed by the most feared living creature on the planet? A lot of worse ways to die than to be torn to pieces, not dying instantly, able to see your murderer's solid black cold eyes roll up into it's head as it literally rips you into two pieces? Worse ways than having your entire leg bitten off, swimming frantically to shore for safety only to bleed out seconds before you hit the beach for rescue? Worse ways than being dragged under by a 4000lb, 18ft killing machine and drowning all the while seeing the light from the sun begging you to come up for air, just feet above where your last breath takes places in the jaws of.... Jaws?

I guess there are worse ways to die, but you would have to be pretty creative to think of them. ;)
 
I doubt I'll ever go in the waters out by Ft. Macon/Atlantic beach much past my waist. I've been fishing right by the inlet many, MANY times in 6' deep surf water (on a boat) and you can watch 8-12' long sharks just swimming around all over the place.

No way in hell I'd go in past 3' after all the sharks I've seen just a couple feet from where the swimmers are in the surf!
 
I'm not worried about a GW in the surf and I generally don't swim in the breakers early or late. I love floating in the waves and bodysurfing and the therapudic qualities of the saltwater too much to let fear of Sharks, Bluefish, jellyfish etc. stop me from enjoying it.

In a rest home
after years in a coma
car accident
fire
gunshot
cancer
stroke esp. If barely survived and dain bramage
heart attack
skydiving
diabetes or other slow killing desease
snakebite
as a paraplegic
of old age, having never swam in the ocean :D

Agreed...you have a better statistical rate of getting hit by lightning twice than getting bit by a shark (or killed)...who is gonna stop walking outside for fear of burning to death and literally smelling your own flesh burning, feeling your insides cook, etc??? You literally have a better chance of dying by a vending machine falling on you than dying by a shark. Things happen, they're tragic sure...but you could literally list the things you do on a daily basis that have a higher probability of killing you than a shark. I'll choose not to live in a bubble.
 
You guys are correct about statistics. But, keep in mind, those statistics also include people that will never or rarely go to the beach and thus the "odds" seem very small overall. Take that statistic and put it up against people that spend a good amount of time in the waters and your chances go up quite a bit! Throw those statistics at a surfer and he'll laugh at you. Any surfer that has spent enough time in the water to get decent knows the likelihood of an attach are pretty high. I know people that have been bitten 3+ times by sharks (all surfers).

I was surf fishing at Bouge inlet and grabbed a 7-8' Spinner sharks tail as it swam right infront of me at a drop off, I was kneedeep 5' from the beach and it's tail was sticking up out of the water I just reached out and grabbed it. I was gonna try to sling it on the beach but it thrashed out of my hand cause I did'nt want to drop my rod/reel in the water. I'm sure if I used both hands I could have tossed it onto the sand!!...........I've also had sharks hit my legs while swimming in the surf, one rubbed my leg hard enough to leave a big rasberry on my thigh, I still will jump right in even if the waters to cold :eek:

yeah man i am a beach bum at heart!!! have had decent sized sharks swim right by me while surf fishing, i dont go in early or late, but otherwise im in the water!! We were down at Portsmouth Island a few years back, the water was decently, calm and i was decently buzzed, tide was dead slack high, and i had marked a nice trough well out of casting distance, so in i went, by the time i got about belly button deep i could hit it, so after about three trips back to the truck to get bait and beer and take back the chopper blues i was catching i got a brillant idea:rolleyes: i got one of my old stringers, filled up my cut off bdu pants pockets with beer and cut bait/shrimp and in i went, about the third blue i was tying on my belt loop stringer, a 6-7 foot blacktip cruised by about an arms length in front of me, i was like hey guys!!!!!! did you see that man that was wild haha!!! then somebody more sober than me says hey i bet you look like a buffet to him:eek: soberness came on quickly and i slowly backed out of the water!! haha i still love the "big water" i will just take my chances!

scared to death!!!!!
