Anyone here do their own pest control and have products they recommend using?

Right now we pay a company $360/yr to come out and spray quarterly, I’m curious if I can do it myself for cheaper.

Bifen. Get it at just about any hardware store. Get the concentrate and a good sprayer. Outdoor use only though, I believe. Spray your house, yard, boat, whatever. Don’t let your dog or kids get into it for a little while after you spray. Repels a pretty large array of critters. My neighbor is in the business and got me turned onto it.

I’ve also used Bifen and permethrin for out around the barns and such. Our company here charges big time if it’s not just the primary residence so they do the house I do everything else. You have to be real careful with permethrin if you have cats cause it will kill them even in the smallest dose. I have the inground bait stations for termites staged around the house that I got off Amazon for WAY cheaper so I don’t have to pay the company extra for that. The only reason I would use a company is the insurance in regards to termite damage. Our company we were using here guarantees against termites and if something happens they pay to fix it. So it’s kind of a peace of mind situation.

@skyhighZJ might use something different, but used these around my old house. The little orange plunger pops up to notify you if termite’s have been feeding, but they pop up if they get really saturated with water too. They’re cheaper than hiring someone, and you just buy the refills if the orange plunger pops up.

I just subscribed to pestie because the service we had was expensive and inconvenient. My year plan was somewhere around $100 and they will ship me pest control products every quarter specific for my area. They have a money back guarantee so I figured it would be at least worth 1 year of my money. If it truly is the same formulas as the pros then I am saving 60% off of what we used to pay. So far the results are good. My house was built 100 years ago so the first step for me was sealing off any gaps bugs could get into.

I have a cat for the bigger pests :)

Advance Termite Bait Stations... Amazon product ASIN B01LD5PQQ8
These come with a “sensing” block for seeing if you have activity and an inert pod above it. and you buy the actual bait pods separately.
Funny, I'm 98% sure that's exactly what a termite company put in here many years ago.

I've used this inside/outside/under the house. Just put it in a pump sprayer and go to town. Beware, the website is a wormhole for insecticides, herbicides, and pesticides. Shipping has always been quicker and more consistent than Amazon.

I ordered my electric backpack sprayer from them. That thing is awesome.
